A way of living: An Emotional State!

There's something about skin and body care they don't tell us. Think about it, we've heard the term skincare for so long but what does it really mean? What is it about? Every time we're looking for a definition or better yet, a structure, an understanding, we have so many different options from so many decades, aesthetics and brands, it's hard to choose. Even worse, if we choose, we're boxed in that category and it can last quite a long time. But... what if?

What if I want to have Gelato Skin or Gelato Body? What if I want a nourished, hydrated skin without the full glass skin, is that a possibility? What if I'm not looking for short term influence but long term impact? What if I want to break the mold, can I dare or should I stick to what I know?

I guess the question is "What is Gelato?"

✦ What is Gelato Skin/Body?

Being a Gelato is all about choosing ourselves first. Choosing to prioritize myself instead of others, choosing my soft side whenever I feel angry or terrible or had a bad day. Even on good days too, self-care is any time. A reminder that I'm allowed to be human. I'm allowed to dream big, journal, spending hours on self-care and enjoying life the way it comes. With ups and downs, but being grounded in the person I am. I'm allowed to be playful, fun, soft if that's my desire. I'm allowed to be a Gelato. When we talk about Gelato - we think ice cream (Gelato in Italian, such a beautiful language btw). It's a mindset, a mood, a vibe, a flirt.

The misconception that often appears with aesthetics is being stuck and known for one aesthetic forever, one style forever because that's what makes us "recognizable". So, I can't be an It Girl, honestly, I can't be boxed. Between you and I (I'll get bored), but this is the part we "can't say out loud and should be grateful for it" as if I'm not allowed to evolve with time. It's decided, I want Gelato.

Now the question is: when we talk about being Gelato, what does it really mean? What does it entail?

It's the language of being airy, soft, whipped, cold as if we're an ice cream finally cold enough to take our shape and color. Let's think about it; ice cream in general is cold and icy which means having a cold and icy finish - shiny, glidy, you name it. It's very much giving glow, satin and butter finish.

Beyond that, when consuming an ice cream, it's soft and sweet in terms of taste most of the time. One lick (no, not that kind of lick, let's get our mind out of the gutters) and we feel transported. It's airy, a disappearing sensation, almost like a whipped cream - a lot of outside volume and barely there substance.

A Gelato is the one who isn't afraid to embrace her softness, being airy, playful, flirty skin (yes, we don't need to lose our personality and spark.).

✦ Gelato Language: In Skincare

When we talk about Gelato in terms of skincare, we talk about a buttery face and makeup that glides.

To start, we need gelato skin for a great makeup look. Here, we're talking a buttery face - a face so hydrated as if we're applying butter on a bread - moist, glowy, well done, wet (no, not that kind Misters, let's keep our head straight).

Any product that provides hydration is a go-to. I recently discovered Korean skincare because I have very dry skin and I can't tell you enough how in love I am with these products.

The goal is always buttery skin. I don't do my skin routine necessarily following industry standards. I had to listen to my own body, my own skin and adjust things as needed. We'll definitely get into more details in the future. The whole point is after that routine, our skin should not feel heavy, instead very light and fluffy as if hydration is flirting with our skin.

It's the idea of feeling kissed. Kissed by hydration, kissed by glide, kissed by glow.

✦ Gelato Language: In Body Care

If you know me, you know body care is a non negotiable when it comes to self care. My skin is so dry that it has to constantly be hydrated. I have recently discovered some tips that I've been trying and some I love, some I still need to pursue before giving an opinion.

For a perfect Gelato day, I recently discovered about body exfoliation. Honestly, I knew about it in terms of skincare and I can't say I'm a fan (we'll dive in more into why in another article), but I still decided to try it. Now, it's a non-negotiable, I can't skip it 3-4 times a week and fully let it sink and melt before washing it off is incredible. Then, I proceed with the rest. I'll give you more details about the full routine soon. I don't want to make this too long. All I can say, my skin is so gelato after that, I can't help but smile.

Finally, let's not forget, we need body highlighter or shiny mist with a silver or gold undertone or silver or gold glitter depending on the mood we're going for.

The entire goal is to feel as if we've been kissed by the cold, kissed by softness, kissed by nourishment.

✦ Gelato Language: In Daily Self Care

A good Gelato Day starts by choosing a key point for the day; i.e. moisture, hydration, calmness, stop irritation, etc. and build full daily routine around it. That key point determines how the rest of the day goes.
